Achievement at a glance
WCS has successfully achieved helping the Government of Indonesia and the provincial governments to establish or expand more than 500,000 hectares new MPAS in four provinces such as West Nusa Tenggara, North Maluku, North Sulawesi, and Aceh from 2017 to date.Challenges faced in implementation
A challenge for achieving this commitment has been related to the revision of local government laws that shifted the the MPA management authority from district government level to the provincial government level since the provincial governments do not yet have strong capacity for managing MPAs.Next Steps
