Progress report for
Youth Involvement in the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals
Achievement at a glance
All deliverables planned until June 2016 were completed, except for the UN speaker, who could not be invited, because we were not contacted back, when we tried to schedule a talk.\r\nAs to the follow-up plans, proposed to continue the project until June 2017, the students worked on their research in their junior year, and proposed solutions in action plans, which were presented as posters at a session at the Scholarship Week, Monmouth University, 21st April 2017, on ”United Nations and the Sustainable Development Goals: activities to support the SDG's at Monmouth University”, where Ranney School and Monmouth University students presented their research on selected Sustainable Development Goals.Challenges faced in implementation
- The collaboration with the international high school from Rome, Italy, could not be started, due to administrative problems with the Italian Ministry of Education.\r\n- The UN speaker could not be invited, because we were not contacted back, when we tried to schedule a talkNext Steps
The project is completed and the students graduated from Ranney high school in May 2019. The long term benefits of this project can be seen in the fact that several of them chose college majors relative to issues related to SDG's, like environmental studies or international studies and economics (in particular, my son, Fabio Tessiore, thanks also to the project he did on youth unemployment in Europe, was accepted in the Huntsman program at UPenn University!)Beneficiaries
