Progress report for
Commitment between the Secretariats of the Caribbean Environment Programme and the OSPAR Commission to explore opportunities for inter-regional cooperation
Achievement at a glance
Two Regional Seas Conventions on opposite sides of the Atlantic, OSPAR and the Caribbean Environment Programme (CEP), have come together to share knowledge and expertise on marine litter and Marine Protected Areas (MPAs). The voluntary commitment yielded dedicated funding to carry out project activities. Marine litter is carried across the Atlantic on ocean currents, and a regional workshop on assessment methods to understand this pressure has been arranged. MPAs are a powerful conservation tool, and information exchange on managing regional networks has been undertaken. Communication materials have been created and events have been disseminated through the respective social media channels of both organisations.Beneficiaries
