The Government of Nauru has recently implemented a Waste Segregation Project with the assistance of the Government of Japan.<br>Furthermore, a National Solid Waste Strategy was recently endorsed and the taskforce was also formed focusing on implementation of the National Solid Waste Strategy.
Challenges faced in implementation
A 2003 household waste generation survey conducted in Buada District shows 30% of household waste is plastics. Litter is also a Health issue providing breeding grounds for mosquito borne diseases and is connected to recent outbreak of dengue. The Government of Naurus ongoing efforts with our development partners to address issues relating to Waste Management there is a lot more that needs to be done. and a need for more resources for advocacy and capacity building.Beneficiaries
