Blue Planning in Practice: Worldwide MSP training offer to enable ecosystem-based marine and coastal planning and management
Achievement at a glance
A training on Blue Planning in Practice took place in the Mekong Delta from April 11-13, 2018. More than 20 representatives from all 7 coastal provinces of the Mekong Delta as well as representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD), the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment (MONRE) and related institutes strengthened their skill set on coastal and marine spatial planning for practitioners. The 3-day training course started with a high-level event on April 10 and took participants to the fictitious coastal country Bakul.Participants appreciated the didactical methodology of the training, which comprises case work, participatory exercises, presentations and real cases of Marine Spatial Planning.
One of the key learnings of the group concerned the importance of participation and communication not only in the training context, but also between the different stakeholders and sectors engaged in marine spatial planning processes.
The training was jointly organized by the Integrated Coastal Management Programme (ICMP) and the Blue Solutions Initiative.
