Progress report for
Marine Conservation Masterplan - Vizhinjam/Kovalam, India
Achievement at a glance
Our full-time team has just been hired, with our international coordinators getting ready to head back to southern Kerala early this April. We have hired two Australian's, Blake Hight and Daniel Fry to assist running the project on the ground with our Indian Coordinator Krishna KS. Our team have varied backgrounds in marine biology, waste management and community development and they're looking forward to opening our Marine Conservation Centre when they arrive. The Centre will be a base for our local operations and will assist the community through offering local training sessions and workshops; informing foreign tourists to the issues facing the ocean and the local community; as well as being a central hub for solutions, working alongside a diverse group of stakeholders.
In January this year we became a registered company in India and our local board of directors are already networking with businesses, regional and state governments and international supporters who may be able to assist us financially in achieving our long-term objectives. We will be updating consistently now as our project gains momentum over the coming months.
