Progress report for
Achievement at a glance
One of the actions of this Roadmap is to establish an international forum for discussion and exchange, offering concrete examples and guidelines on how to apply MSP. The forum\'s overarching objective would be to empower a new generation of planners, sectors, businesses and civil society to identify solutions and commit to cross-sectoral actions to conserve our ocean and to use its resources in a sustainable way. \r\n\r\nThe Directorate General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the European Commission (EU_MARE) and the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO (IOC-UNESCO) are organizing the launching event of the Marine/Maritime Spatial Planning International Forum that will take place in Brussels (BE) in May 2018, a second event of the International Forum will be organized in Autumn. \r\n\r\nEU_MARE and IOC-UNESCO started by the end of 2017 contacts with national authorities in order to launch two pilot projects on cross-border MSP. A proposal has been defined for the Western Mediterranean to support the European actions in this region covering Spain, Morocco, France, Algeria, Italy, Malta and Tunisia and in the Southeast Pacific using the historical bay of Guayaquil in between Ecuador and Peru.
