Responding to El Nio: Improving International Coordination for Improved Early Warning- ENSO-neutral conditions established since January 2017<br>
<br>WMO circulated the regular updated reports and products to Members and related international organizations through the relevant websites on El Nio and its impacts. In the meantime, an effort on coordination and consultation was taken, during the UN Ocean Conference in May 2017, through organizing an informal roundtable El Nio: International Coordination supported by 9 Member States and 6 partner agencies to strengthen interagency cooperation on forecasts and early warning for El Nio/La Nia.

<br>The meeting was attended by the USG and Emergency relief Coordinator of OCHA Mr Stephen OBrien, representative of the Executive Office of the UN Secretary General Mrs Gyles Mc Donnough, Ambassadors and representatives from Australia, Ecuador, Peru, Colombia, Marshall Islands, China, USA and the UK. Representatives from UN entities also attended included FAO. UNISDR, UNEP, UNESCO-IOC, and regional bodies including SPREP and academia, Columbia University IRI.
