Multi-Hazard Early Warning Conference (MHEWC) on 22-23, May 2017\<br>
<br>Over 400 practitioners from a wide variety of institutional and technical backgrounds convened in Cancun, Mexico, for two days at the MHEWC immediately prior to the Fifth Global Platform on Disaster Risk Reduction in Cancun, Mexico.
<br>
<br>The major contributions of the Conference were as follows:
<br>
<br>1) Key outcomes and recommendations from MHEW Conference included in the Chairs Summary of the Global Platform 2017: From Commitment to Action (Annex 6) and the Cancun High Level Communique which was formally conveyed to the President of the United Nations Economic and Social Council as a contribution to the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development in UN Assembly;
<br>
<br>2) GMAS, CREWS and the efforts to strengthen the issuance of Impact based Warning services were explicitly included in the Chairs Summary in the item 32, 33 and 34 respectively;
<br>
<br>4) Active engagement in the high level consultations such as the Leader Forum, a leading role in organizing the Special Session on early warning and risk information, the Plenary Session on 2030 Agenda for SDG, etc.
