Progress report for
RegionsAdapt
Achievement at a glance
Founded by 27 regional governments at COP21, RegionsAdapt has now 69 members. Working Groups coordinated by regions and supported by technical experts currently promote the exchange of knowledge in 6 of the 7 key priority areas of the initiative. A first report was published in January 2017, covering climate risks and adaptation actions that 27 regional governments disclosed in 2016.Challenges faced in implementation
RegionsAdapt faces a lack of human resources and financial support, which prevents the initiative from fulfilling its full potential and supporting regional governments more effectively in their adaptation goals.Next Steps
In December 2017, the Secretariat will assess the fulfillment of the 3 commitments of the 27 founding members. Those who will have successfully fulfilled all 3 commitments will be invited to adhere to 2 new rounds of 3 commitments to be delivered in the next 4 years. The same will apply to all other members, once their adhesion to RegionsAdapt completes 2 years (the deadline they have to deliver their first 3 commitments).Beneficiaries
