Progress report for
Improve our understanding of microfibers with actionable steps to prevent them from becoming aquatic debris
Achievement at a glance
In partnership with the Bren School of Environmental Management & Science at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and the Outdoor Industry Association (OIA), Ocean Conservancy convened 50 global thought leaders from across industry, academia, conservation and government for a two-day meeting focused on identifying critical research, solutions and next steps pertaining to microfiber pollution. Over two days, we developed a shared perspective about microfibers in the environment and a commitment to work together toward concrete actions. Ocean Conservancy is encouraged by the productive path forward, with opportunities for new knowledge generation, leadership at a variety of levels, and a robust action plan that creates momentum within the private sector.<br>
