Progress report for
NOW FOUNDATION WATER AND AGRICULTURAL SUSTAINABILITY INITIATIVE

Achievement at a glance
One of the significant successes is the Orphanage Outreach in Abuja and Kano. This initiative provided essential supplies and emotional support to numerous orphanages, directly benefiting hundreds of children. Activities included the distribution of educational materials, clothing, and food items, along with health check-ups and recreational activities designed to foster a nurturing environment for these children. The Children Outreach Programs were also highly successful, particularly in Ogun State and Burundi. In Ogun State, over 500 children benefited from the Children’s Day celebrations that included educational and recreational activities. Similarly, in Burundi, Children’s Day celebrations were organized to provide a sense of joy and community, positively impacting a large number of children.
Another major achievement was the Widows Outreach in Kano and Abuja. This program offered financial aid, vocational training, and emotional support to widows, empowering them to achieve self-sufficiency. Workshops on skills development, the distribution of financial grants, and essential supplies were key components of this initiative.
The Farmers Outreach in Ogun and Kano States provided local farmers with crucial resources and training to enhance agricultural productivity. Farmers received farming tools and seeds and participated in training sessions on modern farming techniques, which are expected to boost their agricultural outputs.
In Lagos State, the Feeding Outreach addressed food insecurity by providing meals to the needy, feeding thousands. This regular meal distribution targeted high-need areas and played a crucial role in alleviating hunger.
The Women Outreach in Abuja supported needy women with financial aid, health services, and empowerment programs. Activities included health camps, the provision of micro-loans for small businesses, and educational workshops aimed at enhancing women’s economic independence and well-being.
Challenges faced in implementation
Despite these successes, several challenges were encountered during the implementation of these initiatives. Logistics, such as transportation and distribution of supplies to remote areas, proved difficult due to poor infrastructure. Coordinating with local authorities and ensuring the safe delivery of aid required significant effort and time. Funding constraints limited the scope and scale of outreach programs, and securing continuous funding impacted the sustainability of some projects.Next Steps
