Progress report for
DRESSX
Achievement at a glance
By teaming up with American Eagle, digital fashion retailer DRESSX saved 86 million gallons of water and 481 tons of carbon emissions, showing that the future of sustainable fashion is digital.Next Steps
This is just one example of the potential environmental benefits of digital fashion. According to Barclay’s research of credit card users, 9% of clothes are bought solely for content creation. With a 1% displacement rate, replacing these physical clothes with digital alternatives, we can save 5 trillion gallons of water annually: equal to the annual consumption of water for agricultural and domestic use globally. We are passionate advocates for sustainable consumption and production, and with DRESSX we found a solution that can help to change the current state of affairs in the fashion industry. At DRESSX, we are absolutely sure that the future of fashion is digital.Beneficiaries
The fashion industry is one of the most polluting in the world, accounting for 10% of global carbon emissions annually. The production and distribution of fibers and garments used in fashion all contribute to different forms of environmental pollution, including water, air, and soil pollution. Overproduction and overconsumption of fashion items are among the main factors creating the pollution. By displacing physical fashion with digital alternatives, as we did with the American Eagle Campaign, we can reduce the waste from this industry, benefitting us and our world for generations to come.
