Progress report for
Intertidal Watch in Singapore
Achievement at a glance
Programme is on-going. Despite disruptions from the COVID-19 pandemic, 180 citizen scientists participated in the programme in 2020 and 2021. Over 26 surveys at four different survey sites, the volunteers contributed a total of over 1300 hours. In these two years, citizen scientists counted over 7100 animals from 85 different species, which helped to elucidate the distinct communities at each site. Rare/endangered species recorded during this period include Calappa philargius (spotted box crab), Tachypleus gigas (coastal horseshoe crab), Protoreaster nodosus (knobbly seastar), Pseudocolochirus violaceus (sea apple cucumber) and Cymbiola nobilis (noble volute).Challenges faced in implementation
