Capacity Building Programs on Water-related Technologies

In 2023, National Research Institute for Rural Electrification, Ministry of Water Resources, P. R. China/Hangzhou Regional Center (Asia-Pacific) for Small Hydro Power (HRC) actively carried out capacity building programs on water-related technologies for developing countries both virtually and physically. HRC conducted six water-related training projects, including Seminar on Water Conservancy Technology for Developing Countries, Seminar on Safety Management of Small- and Medium-sized Hydropower for Developing Countries, Seminar on Small Hydropower and Sustainable Development of Rural Communities for Developing Countries, Seminar on Small Hydropower and Rural Electrification for French-speaking Countries, Seminar on Water Resources Development and Water Environment Treatment for Developing Countries, Training Course on Flood Control and Early-Warning and Forecasting and Hydrological Monitoring for Developing Countries etc., for managerial and technical staff from 57 developing countries , with the attendance reaching over 200.Next Steps
In 2024, National Research Institute for Rural Electrification, Ministry of Water Resources, P. R. China/Hangzhou Regional Center (Asia-Pacific) for Small Hydro Power (HRC) will continue to carry out capacity building programs on water-related technologies for developing countries to widely promote China’s philosophy, practices and achievements of water governance, enhance the capacity for their independent development and local economic and social development. Specifically, in 2024, HRC intends to provide no fewer than 4 water-related training projects and provide no fewer than 100 training opportunities.Beneficiaries

Actions
1.Invitation of government officials, technical experts, researchers, entrepreneurs from developing countries to China to attend water-related training programs;2.Delivery of technical presentations to share China’s management concepts, experience, technologies, etc. with developing countries;
3.Organization of technical visits to make the training participants better understand China’s development philosophy, experience and technology;
4.Implementation of seminars to exchange development status, cooperation potentials, etc. between countries;
5.Display of China’s water culture to other developing countries.
