Progress report for
ABEREUS: The Future of waterless toilets and their positive impact on the world
Achievement at a glance
We held around 15 presentations and workshops with around 20 people each time in the room and discussed the planetary boundaries as well as different sanitation solutions. That makes up to around 300 in total. So, the first 15% of our mission until 2030 are already completed. On the other side we started promoting waterless toilets and brought 25 toilets to communities and private persons around Germany and even some around Europe (Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Portugal).
Challenges faced in implementation
People and communities are not so easily convinced of a new and somehow totally different approach to sanitation, a very intime thing for most of us.For most people a waterless toilet is more like a toilet from the old times, an outhouse, but they cannot imagen that this type of toilet can be more hygienic and odorless.
Next Steps
We are continuing to talk to communities about new waterless toilets and with each new project that is finished, a new lighthouse for waterless toilets arises and multiplies our efforts. We also continue to do our presentations and workshops to groups of around 20 persons.
Beneficiaries
The participants of the presentation and the people in the region of the new toilets or tourists passing by and in need of a toilet.
Actions
The presentations and workshops will provide an awareness for the boundaries and the water crisis to the participants and as some are business owners or so they might influence their businesses with the new knowledge. Each added waterless toilet will benefit the region. Citizens of the communities around the toilets as well as tourists will benefit, as they will have an extra public toilet.
The region will use a little less water for sanitation and the massive costs reduction for the not-connection infrastructure.
