Sharon Bhagwan Rolls is a 2nd generation Pacific Island feminist she works to progress feminist practice and women's rights using an inclusive peace, development and humanitarian nexus approach to contribute to building peaceful and inclusive communities. With a professional background in broadcast media, she remains committed to the development of an information and communication ecosystem that results in the production and distribution of content that reflects diverse women's voice and experiences which in turn enable them to celebrate and claim their ideas and innovation to realise transformative change.
Sharon is currently a member of Global Fund for Women Board of Directors and Pacific Regional Representative Gender Liaison of the International Steering Group of the Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict (GPPAC), a member of the World Pulse Global Council and National Vice President of the YWCA of Fiji. She is a member of the UNWomen convened Women’s Resilience to Disasters (WRD) Board, Global Consultative Group of gender experts for the midterm review of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, Pacific Climate Security Network (PCSN) and Pacific EVAWG Civil Society Reference Group to the UN.
Following a successful broadcast career in Fiji, Sharon co-established FemLINKpacific: Media Initiatives for Women. Between 2000 – 2018 she led the organisation to develop the Pacific’s first women’s “suitcase radio” station and community media network and the Women’ Weather Watch inter-operable information and communication system.
