Ms. Nísia Verônica Trindade Lima
President, Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz), Brazil
Ms. Nísia Trindade Lima has authored books and articles with an emphasis on Brazilian social thinking, history of ideas in public health, and the Brazilian processes of construction of the National State. She is now on her second mandate as the President of the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation – FIOCRUZ and is the first woman to occupy this position in its 120 years of history. Linked to Brazilian Ministry of Health, Fiocruz is the largest Public Health Academic Institution in Latin American and the Caribbean Region. In December 2020 she was elected full member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences (ABC) in the Social Sciences category. She established a FIOCRUZ's Strategy on 2030 Agenda, and served as a member of the WHO Advisory Committee for the Research, Development, Innovation, and Access Accelerator of the Global Action Plan for Healthy Lives and Well-Being. During her mandate, she has given centrality to the Fiocruz Gender and Race Equity Committee, and is a member of the Steering Committee of the 2021 Gender Summit for Latin America and the Caribbean. She also served as a member of the International Steering Committee (ISC) of the Nairobi Summit on ICPD25. She also participated and supported the FIOCRUZ activities that contribute to the ECOSOC - High-Level Political Forum for Sustainable Development on different topics.
