Dr. Gitta Trauernicht is the Vice-President for the SOS Children's Villages International, Austria. She is also a member of Parliament for Schleswig-Holstein. Prior to this, she served as Minister for Social Affairs, Health, Family, Youth and Elderly, member of Parliament for Lower Saxony and Minister of Women, Employment and Social Affairs. She was also the head of the Office of the Senate for the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg and Counsellor of State for the first Mayor. She has also been involved in various programmes and initiatives such as the “Child and Youth Action Plan”and the “Guardian Angel Programme”.
