Ms. Abigail Martinez Renteria

Abigail is an educator committed to social justice and sustainable development. She is member of the Women’s Major Group and collaborates with MY World Mexico as the Mentorship Programme #ActionXSDGs Deputy Coordinator. During her journey, she has collaborated with several NGOs, assisted public and private institutions in 9+ countries in different activities related to sustainable development, and guided educators’ professional development in issues around sustainability. Abigail forms part of several digital action networks for climate change and sustainable development, including MY World Mexico, The Climate Reality Project, and One Planet Network. She holds a Bachelor’s in Education from the Autonomous University of Ciudad Juarez in Mexico, and an International Masters in Adult Education for Social Change from the University of Glasgow, the University of Malta, Tallinn University, and the Open University of Cyprus. Currently, she is a UNESCO Chair in Adult Literacy and Learning for Social Transformation PhD Scholar at the University of East Anglia, looking at the role of online learning networks in the (re)shaping of the learning processes and literacy practices of sustainable development activists in Latin America.
