Mr. Khondker Mohammad Talha
Ambassador and Permanent Delegate to UNESCO
Mr Khondker M. Talha, a career diplomat, joined Bangladesh Foreign Service in 1995. Prior to his present assignment, he served as Director General for the East Asia and Pacific Wing in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dhaka. He also served as Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh in London (2014-2018), Chief of Protocol (2012-2014).
Among his various overseas assignments, Mr. Talha served at the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the United Nations in New York (2002-2006) where he was responsible for the Economic and Financial Committee of General Assembly, ECOSOC, UN Funds and Programmes among other issues. He also served at the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh in Geneva (2008-2011) where he dealt with UNCTAD and WTO issues. He coordinated the LDC Group at the expert level at both UNCTAD and WTO. Prior to his assignment in Geneva, he also served in Tehran as the Deputy Chief of Mission (2006-2008). He was elected vice-chair of the UN Committee on Population and Development during his tenure in New York (2004) and Rapporteur of the 99th Council of International Organisation for Migration while in Geneva (2010).
Mr. Talha holds a Masters degree from the University of Dhaka, an MBA from the Institute of Business Administration, University of Dhaka and a Masters in Foreign Affairs and International trade from the Monash University in Melbourne. He is married and blesse with a daughter and two sons.
