
Mr. Averous, Christian
Economist, France, Head of Division Environmental Performance and Information, OECD Environment Directorate
As an economist and engineer, Mr. Avérous has worked with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development from 1973to 2008. He provided governments with policy advice to strengthen environmental management and institutions, environment-economy-social integration, and international environmental cooperation. He has created and led the OECD program of environmental performance reviews with 70 country examinations and publications. These reviews have influenced national progress in environmental management. At OECD, he also created and led programs on environmental information such as pressure-state-response model, environmental data, and environmental indicators, measuring material flows and resource productivity. Mr, Avérous has lectured in universities and worked as a consultant to the World Bank, OECD, UN, UNEP, EU and the ADB. He is Vice-President of the Blue Plan and President of the association E2S2D. A French national, he holds degrees in engineering (ENPC, Paris) and in economics (PhD UC Berkeley, French State Doctor).
