Summary of Qualifications and Experience
Currently serving as Director-General, United Nations Division, Ministry of External Affairs, Islamabad, Pakistan. Previously served as Minister at the Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the United Nations from 2004 to 2010. During this period acted as Chef de Cabinet to the ECOSOC President (Pakistan's ECOSOC Presidency 2005). Coordinated the work of the Secretary General's High Level Panel. Also served as the Chief Coordinator for the Group of 77 and China during Pakistan's Chairmanship of G-77 during 2007. In this capacity, led the Group in all important economic and development related intergovernmental negotiations during 2007 including on the follow up to the 2005 World Summit Decisions and the report the Secretary General's High Level Panel on System Wide Coherence. Also acted as the G-77 Coordinator for the 13th UNFCCC COP in Bali, Indonesia. Holds a doctoral degree in International Economic and Business Law (LLD) with around twenty years of experience in Pakistan Foreign Service. Also served as visiting Lecturer and resource person for leading academic institutions in Pakistan including International Islamic University, Lahore University of Management Sciences, Foreign Trade Institute of Pakistan and Foreign Service Academy on international trade law and WTO affairs.
