Jacob Scherr
Senior Advisor, National Resource Defense Council (NRDC)
S. Jacob Scherr is a Senior Advisor to the International Program of the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) in Washington, DC. As a NRDC attorney and program director, he has been engaged for more than 15 years as an advocate and analyst on partnerships. In the 1990s, Mr. Scherr worked with an informal network of individuals and institutions to phase out lead in gasoline worldwide which led to the creation of the Clean Fuels Partnership at the 2002 WSSD. In 2012, he created the “Cloud of Commitments” website to aggregate the hundreds of commitments to action made at the UN Rio+20 Conference. He led the November 2013 conference at Yale University on “Rio+20 to 2015: A New Architecture for a Sustainable New World.” Mr Scherr is an Adjunct Faculty member at the American University where his graduate students recently undertook in-depth case studies of a number of key "commitment platforms."
