President of Costa Rica (2010-2014), she also held the positions of Minister of Public Security (1996-1998), Congresswoman (2002-2006), Minister of Justice (2006-2008) and Vice President of the Republic (2006-2008). Currently she is President of Analitica Consulting Group for Central America, Vice President of the Club de Madrid, Chair of the Inter-American Dialogue, Chair of the Kofi Annan Commission on Elections and Democracy in the Digital Age, and board member of the Euro America Foundation and the Concordia Summit. She has been the Head of several Electoral Observation Missions of the Organization of American States (OAS) in Mexico (2015), United States of America (2016), Paraguay (2016) and Brazil (2018). She has being teaching at various universities such as the Technological Institute of Monterrey in Mexico, the University of Georgetown in Washington D.C. and the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil. Master in Public Policy from the University of Georgetown, United States and political scientist.
