Dr. Anwesha Dutta is senior research at Chr Michelsen Institute in Bergen, Norway with over 10 years’ experience on issues of biodiversity conservation and rural livelihoods. She is a political ecologist by training and her research lies at the intersection of conservation and natural resources extraction (and governance) and violent conflict. She currently is part of and leads projects related to river sand mining, Ecological implications of refugee settlements and on Covid-19 and forestry (all in South Asia). More recently she has diversified her geographical focus to also include research on biodiversity conservation processes in Kenya and Tanzania.
