Charting the way forward with sustainable blue economies

As the world looks at recovering and rebuilding from the devastating COVID-19 pandemic, it is important that countries, the private sector, civil society and international organizations invest in more smart and sustainable efforts that can protect our invaluable natural resources. The UN Office of Legal Affairs and the Norwegian government announce their collaboration to support developing countries build sustainable ocean-based economies through strengthened ocean governance. The initiative is a breakthrough in an industry that is already supporting the livelihoods of 3 billion people and contributes an estimates US$ 1.5 trillion to the global economy every year.
