2022 UN Ocean Conference – Special Accreditation for Non-Governmental Organizations and Other Stakeholders

The 2022 UN Ocean Conference will be held from 27 June to 1st July 2022 in Lisbon, Portugal. Co-hosted by Governments of Kenya and Portugal, the UN Ocean Conference comes at a critical time as the world is seeking to address the many of the deep-rooted problems of our societies laid bare by the COVID-19 pandemic and which will require major structural transformations and common shared solutions that are anchored in the SDGs. To mobilize action, the Conference will seek to propel much needed science-based innovative solutions aimed at starting a new chapter of global ocean action. Relevant stakeholders, including non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations, academic institutions, the scientific community, the private sector and philanthropic organizations, whose work is relevant to the UN Ocean Conference, accredited in accordance with the provisions set forth in Annex II of A/RES/73/292 will be able to request registration to participate as observers in the Conference. Information about accredited organizations is available here.
Other relevant non-governmental organizations, civil society organizations, academic institutions, the scientific community, the private sector and philanthropic organizations whose work is relevant to the Conference that are not in consultative status with ECOSOC, or that have not been accredited to any of the Conferences listed above must apply for special accreditation.
A final round of Special Accreditation for the 2022 UN Ocean Conference is now OPEN until 28 February 2022.
