Context
The involvement of private sector, civil society and academia is essential to help governments to prepare and implement more ambitious NDCs; and simultaneously accelerated progress towards many SDGs. There is a strong case to be made for examining how best to leverage multi-stakeholder action partnerships for both the SDGs and for climate action, so that co-benefits are maximized and trade-offs minimized at all levels.
The session will examine existing and planned partnerships and multi-stakeholder collaborations in improving the efficacy of policy implementation, directing finance and resources towards critical nexuses, supporting specific private sector activities, and promoting well identified science, technology and innovation initiatives, contributing towards more efficient use of resources and greater coherence across sectors and actors.
Proposed Guiding Questions
- What are the best practices in forming and leveraging multi-stakeholder partnerships?
- What is the role of the private sector in enhancing synergies between climate action and sustainable development?
- How can civil society actors best leverage their potential?
