Mon 16 Jul 2018, 1.15 pm — Wed 03 Feb 2021, 1.30 pm
Conference room B, UNHQ
Background
Permanent Mission of Paraguay
This side event is organized by the Friends of the Social Progress Index Group founding members — Costa Rica and Paraguay — in collaboration with the United Nations Office for Partnerships and other civil society and business leaders.
The Social Progress Index (SPI) measures the extent to which countries provide for the social and environmental needs of their citizens. Fifty-four indicators in the areas of basic human needs, foundations of well-being, and opportunity to progress show the relative performance of nations.
At this side event, national and local governments will share their experiences and lessons learned using the Social Progress Index to localize and advance the SDGs. This will be an opportunity for participants to showcase how they have used data to drive actions, create impact and achieve a positive systemic change in public policy, private investments and societal behaviour fostering a dialogue at the UN level on best practices in the implementation of sustainable development strategies and instruments
