Building a green economy through decent work: A new paradigm for Employment, Social Inclusion and Poverty eradication in a Sustainable Planet
Madrid, Spain
Background
3 main issues will be discussed in round tables: green taxation, social protection and green and decent jobs.
These issues have been selected due to their potential to trigger sustainable development through employment and social inclusion policies. Furthermore, they demonstrate the ability to address economic, social and environmental challenges jointly.
A final session will focus on how to mobilize towards Rio + 20 with ambitious and also achievable objectives.
The UN High level Panel on Global Sustainability has been mandated to rethink the Development Paradigm for Prosperity in a Low carbon world. The labour movement will contribute to this initiative bringing ideas on how to advance towards a more sustainable development. A High Level Trade Union Panel on Green Economy and Sustainable Development has been created to this effect.
Organisers: The ITUC and Sustainlabour
