Fri 10 Jul 2020, 8.00 am — Wed 03 Feb 2021, 8.00 am
Virtual (New York time)
Background
Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and the Permanent Mission of Mexico
The COVID-19 pandemic will result in Latin America and the Caribbean’s worst economic and social crisis in decades, with damaging effects on employment, poverty and the reduction of inequality. In the medium-term, this crisis will provoke structural changes in the organization of production and international trade. In this context, policies to implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development are more essential than ever. This event will address the socioeconomic impact of the pandemic and the main scenarios for SDG achievement and generate an interactive discussion on policy responses to accelerate the region’s efforts as it enters the Decade of Action.
