Progress on achieving SDG 6

Colombia reports that access to drinking water was 93.17 % in 2020 and basic sanitation 86.88% in 2019.

It was found that 192.5 million m3 of water were recirculated by companies. However, when looking at the amount of recirculated water in relation to total water consumption, this proportion is only 0.72% between 2018 and 2019, which represents a challenge to achieve sustainable management of water resources. In this sense, on average, 29% of the companies affirmed that they monitor and record water consumption, but without establishing specific reduction goals according to their previous performance.

28% of the companies made sure to monitor and record water consumption in the same way, although in effect establishing specific reduction goals. Of this group of companies, only 2% achieved these goals.
