Climate and SDG Synergy Agenda at the UNFCCC COP28

31 November - 13 December, Dubai, UAE - For the past five years, the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) has been at the forefront, championing the alignment of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Paris Agreement. With a history of active engagement at the annual COPs, UN DESA has evolved into a catalyst for global collaboration, aligning diverse stakeholders in pursuit of shared goals. Under the leadership of Under-Secretary-General Mr. Li Junhua, UN DESA’s mission at COP28 in Dubai went beyond participation; it set the stage for a dynamic platform of integrated action on all levels. Throughout the engagement at the SDG Pavilion and other official spaces, the Climate and SDG Synergy work has informed numerous discussions in Dubai, as world leaders came together for the first Global Stocktaking of climate action. The summary report of activities is now available, providing and overview of achievements and further recommendations moving forward.
