BUGEMA UNIVERSITY GREEN CONSUMER WEEK (BUGCW)
Description
This is a week long program that is conducted every year in the last week of September. Planning for BUGCW is undertaken from the month of June and implementation is done in September. It normally occurs in the middle of the semester for university students and for pupils in primary and secondary it is undertaken in third term of the schools calendar in Uganda. A whole is dedicated for undertaking activities that include; planting trees, trainings/workshops, environmental awareness, cleaning and sanitation, drama and sports for the youth with environmental messages.
Capacity building is an ongoing process. Lot of training is undertaken in the month of September.
'Bugema University Green Consumer Week is coordinated by the Department of Development Studies at Bugema University with support from the University Administration. The Head of Department with faculty, students and member of local community plan, and implement the program in a participatory manner. The University Administration provides the over sight role.
