    Description
    Description
AMALAMAR PROJECT RECONVERSION OF ORGANIC WASTE IN ANIMAL FOOD The project will involve the reconversion of organic waste, generated in the SOS Pachacamac Neighborhood Pots Program, through a biotechnological process, into a protein product of high nutritional value to be used in animal feed, thus replacing the use of anchovy. It is proposed to demonstrate that this project will have a great impact not only in environmental care, but also in improving the quality of life of the population involved in the processes and additionally in a sustainable animal feed industry. THE PROJECT PROPOSES SEVERAL STAGES: The first: Assist in the process of strengthening the capacities of those responsible for the program in aspects related to the segregation, transfer and storage of organic waste. The second: Participation of a biotechnology institution for the implementation of a pilot for the production of animal feed from the extraction of proteins from organic waste using larvae of a tropical insect. This pilot will also serve to review aspects related to specific production levels, thus allowing market projections to be adjusted. The third involves the generation and consolidation of a social enterprise, led by women, that converts waste into animal feed. This enterprise will become an important instrument for generating income for women and their families, also contributing to the care of the environment. The creation of the enterprise will imply the transfer of capacities to the women leading the social enterprise for the management of the bioconversion process of organic waste, as well as technical assistance and support in the management of the enterprise, its formalization, as well as for the commercialization to various markets, especially those related to the animal feed industry. GOALS General: Program for the conversion of organic waste into animal feed. Specific 1: Raise awareness and strengthen capacities for the segregation, collection and storage of organic waste. Specific 2: Implement a model for the bioconversion of organic waste into a product of high nutritional value for animal feed. Specific 3: Consolidate a social enterprise led by women for the reconversion of organic waste into animal feed, to generate income, employment and preserve the environment. Specific 4: Promote and disseminate among the population, responsible consumption practices and the proper treatment of organic waste. CROSS-CUTTING ACTIONS Promotion among the residents of the district of Pachacamac of responsible consumption practices and waste management in their homes and their proper treatment. Advocacy actions with various public and private organizations that contribute to its scope and impact. Project partners: SOS Neighborhood Pots Program, AMALAMAR, the Municipality of Pachacamac and the biotechnology laboratory. Each of the stages of the project will be systematized, in order to detail the processes and activities carried out, thus ensuring the implementation of the model in other locations.
