At a Glance: Alleviating Poverty
Great news - This year we doubled the number of community members we can impact! With your help, we're now actively supporting brighter livelihoods for 50 community members — that’s twice as many as last year!
Even better, living wages from our Recruit & Restore projects directly alleviate food insecurity and improve daily well-being for local families in under-served communities like Madagascar and the shore communities of Lake Tanganyika in Western Tanzania.
At a Glance: Restoring Ecosystems
Together, we're planting an average of 7,000 trees per month. Each of our forest-site project locations addresses large-scale tree planting and forest conservation from a perspective tailored to the specific area(s).
ARC ACREP site: Antsanitia, Madagascar — Community team members collect and sort mangrove propagules, before planting each species at an optimal tidal zone site.
The Tuungane Project: Lake Tanganyika, Tanzania — Local villagers receive support, training, and income to plant and monitor the growth of ficus seedlings.
At a Glance: Tackling Climate Issues
Nothing is more critical to global climate-change mitigation than removing existing CO2 from the air as swiftly as possible. Our latest Quantified Carbon Modeling data indicates that it takes approximately 77,000 mangrove and ficus trees to offset around 1800 metric tons of CO2 in the course of a typical maturation period.
We supported the planting of 77,000 trees in 2025 — an action that ensured this goal would be met or exceeded. …And, that's in addition to existing sequestration from the 225,000 trees you have already helped to plant at our project locations prior to this year!
What’s more, with climate change driving more intense storms, forestry programs are critical for stabilizing soil and building climate resilience. Restoring vital ecosystems helps protect vulnerable locations from the worst impacts of land erosion and extreme weather events. It also promotes the rebirth of once-productive fisheries that are vital for these coastal communities.

We will be enhancing the relationships with all of our key partners to build on the excellent momentum in 2025.Beneficiaries
Purpose on the Planet works to tackle the impacts of extreme poverty today & climate change tomorrow by providing work and income benefits for vulnerable communities through large-scale tree planting and long-term forest conservation programs in global biodiversity hotspots.
Globally: Since 2012, community-based Recruit & Restore projects have provided an innovative path for transforming a spiral of poverty-based decline into a virtuous cycle of positive progress at our adopted project sites in Madagascar and Tanzania.
Locally: As part of the ReWrite Our Story program, our donors in 6 countries and 25 US states are now being empowered by the monthly Sustainable Solutions modules to support the practical objectives of SDG 12.
The first 12 modules of our Sustainable Solutions series, "Keys to Creating a Low-carbon Lifestyle", and are now being provided on a monthly basis to all new members of our donor community.
The second 12 modules "Hope on the Horizon: How You Are Supporting 12 of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals" have also been completed and are being shared with members of the donor community who have already completed the series above.
