Small Island Developing States (SIDS) will take centre stage at the 2026 High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, demonstrating strong leadership across the Forum’s official programme, Voluntary National Reviews, VNR Labs, side events and partnership discussions.
Throughout the HLPF, SIDS and their partners will address a wide range of priorities, including digitalization, statistics and artificial intelligence for evidence-based decision-making; sustainable energy and geothermal cooperation; climate finance and investment; urban development; eye health; youth engagement; and stronger partnerships for SDG implementation. Discussions will also examine how the Antigua and Barbuda Agenda for SIDS monitoring and evaluation framework can be integrated into national review processes, and how VNR priorities can be translated into concrete partnerships, financing and implementation.
Seven SIDS - Cabo Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Jamaica, Kiribati, the Marshall Islands, Saint Kitts and Nevis, and Tonga -will present their Voluntary National Reviews, sharing national progress, challenges and lessons in advancing the 2030 Agenda. Key moments will include the official HLPF session, “Small Island Developing States: Strategies for SDG Success,” the launch of the State of SIDS Report 2026, and a meeting convened by the Co-Chairs of the Steering Committee on Partnerships for SIDS on moving from VNRs to partnerships and accelerated implementation.
