Expert Group Meeting on Sustainable Development Goal 7
Accelerating Transformative Action on Energy for the 2030 Agenda
In preparation for the 2026 session of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF), the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), Division for Sustainable Development Goals, with the support of UN-Energy and hosted by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), convened an Expert Group Meeting (EGM) focused on Sustainable Development Goal 7: ensuring access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.
The meeting took place in Geneva on 25–26 March 2026 as part of broader preparations for the in-depth review of SDG 7 at the HLPF under the theme “Transformative, equitable, innovative and coordinated actions for the 2030 Agenda and its SDGs for a sustainable future for all.” Insights from the meeting will help inform the SDG 7 review at the 2026 High-Level Political Forum by contributing evidence, country experiences and expert recommendations to thematic discussions and future collaboration efforts.
